Session 3: Role of Non-Bank Financial Institutions in the Future of Islamic Finance

- Will non-bank financial institutions (insurance firms, securities firms, securities brokers and dealers, finance companies, micro finance institutions, leasing companies, asset management companies etc) have more roles in the future of IFSI? Should there be a convergence and cross sector consolidation of banking and non banking activities in order to enhance IIFS competitiveness?
- Are there adequate structures, policies and support from the relevant agencies including multilateral agencies to realise the potential of these sectors?
- What are the challenges and obstacles facing the Islamic capital market and NBFI?
